Maximum output: 280PS @ 6500rpm, maximum torque: 39Kg/m @ 3500rpm. ECI-Multi fuel injection system. Water cooled, modified IHI turbocharger type TD05HR 16G6 9.8T (inconel turbine wheel on the GSR/RS-2) or TD05HRA 16G6 9.8T (titanium turbine wheel on the Evolution VII RS). Maximum boost pressure: 0.8 bar. 4 nozzle water spray on intercooler.

Full time four wheel drive layout. Front (TorSen), center (ACD) and rear (AYC) differentials. Center differential with 50-50 % F/R torque distribution.
Final drive ratio: 4.529.
Five speed fully synchronized gearbox.

Miscellaneous The Evolution VII uses new hollow camshafts, a magnesium camshaft cover and a bigger turbocharger than the Evolution VI. The Evolution VII turbocharger is similar to the one used in the Evolution 6.5 a.k.a. Tommi Mäkinen Edition.
